Frequently asked questions

When do we pay?

The Fixed Fee is set before the search starts. An $800 engagement fee starts the search, on top of the Fixed Fee and never credited against it. The Fixed Fee is invoiced on your new hire’s start date, payable within 14 days. The total never moves from the band. If the package you hire at lands in a different band than briefed, the fee follows the table, up or down. The full fee table and three worked examples are set out on the pricing page.

Do you reward repeat hiring?

Yes. Your first hire, or any hire after a 6-month gap, is the Fixed Fee for its band. Every repeat hire made within 6 months of the start date of your most recent placement is 20% off the Fixed Fee, and each qualifying placement resets the 6 months. The $800 engagement fee applies once per search, not per hire, and is never discounted. There are no retainers and no monthly fees. A worked repeat example is on the pricing page.

What does the guarantee cover?

If your hire resigns within 120 days, or you end their employment within 90 days, we re-run the search and replace them at no further fee. The full conditions are on our pricing page.

Do you need exclusivity?

Yes. Every engagement is exclusive while we’re on the role. It’s what lets us read everyone instead of racing to fill the seat fastest.

Who writes and runs the ads?

We do. We write the ad, run it under the talyn name, and manage every response. The work belongs to the engagement.

What if we find our own candidate mid-search?

Send them in. They’re assessed against the brief like everyone else, and if they’re right, they go on the shortlist. If they’re engaged as a result of our work on the search, the standard fee applies: reading them against the brief and running the process is the work the fee buys.

What if nobody good applies?

Then we tell you that, with the evidence, and go search instead of shortlisting the least-bad. And if the shortlists we submit within 30 days of receiving your engagement-fee payment give you no one worth interviewing, you’re free to end the engagement: tell us in writing that you are ending it and your $800 comes back in full.

Why not a cheap flat-fee service?

Those services typically run your ad and send you the ranked stack; the reading, interviewing and referencing stays with you. We deliver a shortlist with the reasoning behind each name, run the full process, and back it with a replacement guarantee. For roles under $60,000 they’re often the right call, and we’ll say so. That’s not the work we’re built for.

What won’t you recruit?

We don’t take every role. Tell us what you need, and if we don’t believe we can fill it properly, we’ll say no rather than take a fee to skim.
